Laboratory of Physics and Modeling of the Ionosphere

The laboratories are engaged in both fundamental and applied research related to terrestrial and space phenomena.
ABOUT THE LABORATORY

The main tasks of the laboratory are:
Organization, planning, and conducting of fundamental and applied research in the field of ionospheric physics and solar-terrestrial relations using ground-based ionospheric sounding data, world databases on solar activity, and the state of near-Earth space:
– monitoring of the state of the ionosphere by ground-based radio sounding;
– study of ionospheric dynamics and climatic trends of ionospheric parameters based on ground-based ionospheric radio sounding data;
– study of ionospheric effects under the influence of disturbing factors of various origins (solar flares, geomagnetic storms, meteorological and geodynamic processes, disturbances in the thermal and dynamic regime of the Earth’s atmosphere/ionosphere, etc.);
– creation, maintenance, and replenishment of the ionospheric database;
– research and experimental development for the improvement of ionospheric models;
– development of algorithms and technologies for the use of ionospheric data in the calculation of high-frequency (HF) ground-based communication links in the Kazakhstan region;
– development of relations and implementation of programs within the framework of international projects;
